Why is the Blood of Jesus So Significant?

The Blood of Jesus

Let's take a look at why the blood of Jesus Christ is so significant to us as His believers and followers. The spilled blood of Jesus Christ may have much more significance than you ever knew before.

Over the courses of history, the sacrificial shedding of blood was done for covenants (aka promises, in today’s world think legal documents) and for the atoning/covering/cleansing of sins. The very first blood shed was done after Adam and Eve sinned and God made them clothes of animal skin to cover them after they ate of the tree of knowledge. It was also symbolic of covering their sin as they then knew they were naked and needed to be covered. Every year Gods people sacrificed to atone for their sins for the year. The blood had the “power” cover their sins year after year after year.

When Jesus came He was the final blood sacrifice to atone/cover/wash away our sins. His blood has the power to continuously atone for my sins on a day to day, week to week, year after year basis without the need for me to go and give blood sacrifices. The blood of Jesus has the power to atone/cover/cleanse the sins of each generation since His death and resurrection on the cross to come for those who choose to accept the gift of salvation, believe in and live for Him. With communion, it is a way to honor and remember the sacrifices that Jesus made for us. When He and the apostles had the Lord’s supper He had not yet been broken or had His blood poured out. It was a time for Him to model what we should do in remembrance of what was to come. (Communion and baptism are two things Jesus did that we should do but our salvation is not dependent upon it.) Now, Satan above human knowledge, knows the power of the blood of Jesus and what His sacrifice means. I, who was and is the worst of sinners, knows what types of sins that blood had to cover to save me, what type of power that blood needed to have to save me. That is why I will pray not only in the power of the name of Jesus but also in the power of the blood of the lamb.

God Bless!
